Flight Maia Baritone EQ-A

$427.00

Now for something completely different from Flight: a steel string baritone ukulele…the Maia!  As a member of our Princess Series, the Maia features a solid mango top and laminate rosewood back and sides.  It also includes a gloss black headstock, scalloped cutaway, and binding.   You will love both the appearance and sound of the combination of mango and rosewood, and players will love the satin neck.  While the Maia could be thought of as a small tenor guitar, it is designed for standard baritone tuning (DGBE), which is known as Chicago Tuning for a Tenor Guitar.  With its steel strings and acoustic body, the Maia offers a sound that is different from any other ukulele in Flight’s catalog: the sound is bright and dynamic.  While the Maia is naturally a loud ukulele, it also includes an active Double C1U pickup if it needs to be amplified or recorder.  Are you ready to try a new experience in the world of ukulele?  If so, the Maia is for you!

Steel string baritone ukulele

Let Your Music Take

Company Logo

A classic gets a makeover

Rosewood paired with solid mango

We paired a solid mango top with laminate rosewood back and sides for a sound that is both deep, sweet and rich in the mid and lows and that provides clarity and projection on the high end.

Let’s Play

Rosewood fretboard and bridge

Like many of our Princess Series ukuleles, the Maia Baritone features a chocolatey Rosewood fingerboard and bridge. Historically a very popular hardwood for fretted instruments, rosewood can add warmth to the sound of an instrument while lessening harsh higher frequencies.

Rich and resonant tone

Custom set of steel strings

A unique offering in Flight’s catalog, the steel strings of the Maia create a different tonal experience with excellent projection and sustain.  The Maia is ideal for players seeking a brighter, more dynamic sound.

Pitch perfect

Bone compensated saddle and pin bridge

The Maia features a real bone nut and a compensated saddle. Compensated saddles help to properly set the intonation of each string.  The pin bridge allows for quick and easy string changes.

Turning heads

Bold and striking headstock design

The Maia features a gloss black headstock with the Flight logo, which matches the gloss black scallop and binding of the instrument.  The resulting look is both bold and classy.

Tasteful Appointments

Pearloid rosette and unique position markers

The pearloid rosette offsets the natural colors of the mahogany top, offering a classic touch to the instrument.  The unique triangle fretboard markers make this baritone stand out from the pack. Side position markers are included for ease of reference for the player.

Real temptation

Stylish cutaway

We adopted a gloss black scalloped cutaway for the Maia, a favorite feature of our Spirit, Mustang and Victoria models. This intelligent design allows for playing higher up the fretboard without the compromise on volume and tone which is caused by many full cutaways. The scalloped cutway also showcases the absolute craftsmanship and mastery of our luthiers.

Small yet mighty

Double C1U active pickup

The controls for the active pickup are mounted underneath the sound hole, meaning that a cavity does not have to be created on the side of the ukulele for the pickup.  The Double C1U is easy to use, and sounds great! Ukuleles with the new active pickups include an “A” (for “Active”) as a part of their model number.  For tips on how to use the Double C1 pickup, visit the FAQ section on our website!

Only the best gig bag

Royal burgundy

All of our Princess Series ukuleles come with a luxury red gig bag with a purple infusion. This color has traditionally been associated with royalty, a fitting final touch of luxury with this instrument.  The bag features great features and 15mm padding which will protect your ukulele and make it comfortable to transport.

Instructional booklet

Learn in style.

We have also designed a cute 8-page guide to help you on the road to future ukulele fame. It is packed with all the necessary information needed for a quick start including chord charts, strumming patterns and chord progressions for your first drills.

We also included a cool sticker pack from Flight.
